Drying Time
RESISTANT TO RAIN IN 30 MINUTES
Surfaces must be free from oil, dirt, dust and loose material
Metal surfaces – remove all loose rust with a wire brush and treat advanced areas of corrosion with a rust inhibitor
Porous surfaces – apply an initial coat of Thompson’s Bitumen Primer and leave to dry before application
Drinking water tanks – surface should be dry and free from mill scale, rust and dirt. All surfaces should be degreased immediately before application
Apply using a brush
Apply evenly, ensuring any ponding product is distributed on the surface
Resistant to rain after 30 minutes
A minimum of two coats is recommended, allow 24 hours between coats
Drinking Water Tanks
Apply using a brush to ensure all surfaces are thoroughly covered
Apply two coats, allowing 24 hours between coats. Ensure the first coat is thoroughly dried before applying the second
Before the drinking water tank is put into service, the tank should be filled with cold drinking water and drained after a minimum of 4 hours. If an unfamiliar taste is detected in this water, repeat the process
Clean all tools with white spirit.
Minor spillages should be wiped off surfaces with white spirit before the coating sets.
Major spillages should be mopped up immediately with sand and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
